Judging at The Great NZ Sausage Competition
Last week I spent two days in Auckland judging at The Great New Zealand Sausage Competition.
Two days spent sampling and critiquing quality sausages is a hard job, but one that I was up to doing. I enjoyed the discourse between the three judges on the panel as we mulled over the relative strengths of each sausage.
Sausages were cooked in the kitchen before being brought to the judges.
I was on the panel that judged 59 sausages in the Flavours of the World category. A wide variety of boerewors, curry sausages, Mexican, Asian, Texan, North African, Jamaican and more were sampled over the two days. While we had some stand out sausages, I will await eagerly the announcement of the medal winners in mid October.
