He Rangi Mokopuna. Polish Smoked Sausage in the Mountains
It was July and I headed for the hills. I had three brilliant but cold days in Nelson Lakes National Park. He rangi mokopuna (a fine winter’s day). I have been to this part of the country a number of times and was looking forward to getting into the hills. During this trip I feasted on Polish smoked sausage from the Polish Sausage Company.
It was very cold, icy and frosty in the valleys, and there was snow was on the tops. I avoided crossing the rivers by wading. I was a wimp and did not want cold and wet feet, socks and boots.
This meant at one stage, a five kilometre tramp up the valley to get to a swing bridge. As it was a great winters day, the walk up the valley was very enjoyable. Above is a picture I took as I crossed the bridge.
And on the ridge of the St Arnaud Range I found a Polish smoked sausage, this is one of my favourite snarlers at the moment. Check out the online store, purchase a few snarlers or Polish delicacies, you will not be disappointed.
