Devro Great NZ Sausage Competition – 2016 Winners
On Friday all of New Zealand’s eyes and taste buds focused on Auckland for the announcement of the winners of the Devro Great NZ Sausage Competition. With hundreds of sausages entered in the competition the battle for the supreme award was fiercely contested.
Mangawhai Meat Shop from Northland took home the supreme award with a chicken, lime and lemon grass snarler. This also had coconut added to accentuate the Thai flavours of the sausage. I purloined this image of the champion snarler.
Only two butchers from the Wellington region won golds, Waikanae Butchery and the Greytown Butcher. I will look forward to sampling these sausages.
